Help! My House Is Eating Me Alive!

So, I'm not going to be around much this summer because my house is eating up every single inch of me, chewing me up and spitting me back out again.

I envy the Wicked Witch of the East. She had it easy.

We're working on installing a sprinkler system, landscaping and a new deck. After that is done, we'll be putting in a concrete slab and a hot tub. That is where I plan to die because after all of this work, I don't think I'll get out of the hot tub ever again.

Have you seen the movie "The Money Pit"? If not, you should see it. My house is just like that only, we're doing all the work ourselves and we may not live to see the end.

I miss you guys! I'll pop back in whenever I get a chance to pull myself out of the maze of trenches we currently call a yard.

  1. I have seen the movie. Wow, it's been a long time, though. Good luck with all the house work! Man a hot tub sounds nice. :)

  2. Aw, good luck with that. I went through that a couple years ago and it was NOT fun. And now we're too the point where we really should replace our carpet--and even though we have the money saved--I can't find the will or energy to deal with it. Owning a home is fun isn't it? :)

  3. It will be worth it in the end. But rest when you need to.
I once heard a wise man say a home is not really an investment because you will continue to put into it. But it is home!!!!

  8. I should be doing this over the next few months. We need a new floor, baseboards in the basement, new lightening fixtures, but we probably won't do any of it, because summer is way too short in Canada.

Hope you love your hot tub.

  9. LOVE that movie...and no matter how many times I see it, the scene where the bathtub falls through the floor and Tom hanks laughs so obnoxiously....gets me every time and I can't help but laugh too!!!!

Good luck with the renovations!!! We are DIYers too. Just upgraded our landscaping.
